Privacy policy

Hook Line Sinker needs no account, and Andrew Do does not collect or sell your personal information. Players who have not bought the Angler Pass see adverts from Google, which collects some information in order to show them. That, and the optional in-app purchases, are described below.

Data stored on your device

Hook Line Sinker stores game progress and settings locally on your device. The game does not transmit this information. Uninstalling the game removes its locally stored data.

Purchases

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Andrew Do never sees or receives your payment details; only whether a purchase completed is returned to the game, and what you bought is stored on your device with the rest of your progress. Restoring purchases asks Apple which non-consumable items this Apple ID already owns.

Advertising

If you have not bought the Angler Pass, Hook Line Sinker shows adverts provided by Google AdMob. An advert may appear between fishing trips, and you can choose to watch a video for extra energy. Adverts never play while you are fishing.

To deliver and measure these adverts, Google's software in the game may collect your IP address (from which a rough location can be estimated), a device identifier, which adverts you have seen and how you interacted with them, and crash and performance information. Hook Line Sinker requests non-personalised adverts only. Google's use of this information is described in its privacy policy and in how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice before any advert is requested. You can change that choice at any time in the game under Settings → Privacy choices.

Buying the Angler Pass removes every advert: after that, the game requests none. Adverts need an internet connection; without one, the game plays as normal and no advert appears.

Analytics and tracking

Hook Line Sinker contains no separate product-analytics SDK, no external game server and no third-party sign-in service. Your journal, records, settings and saved progress remain on your device. The game never asks for permission to track you, so it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to it or to Google.

Children

Hook Line Sinker does not knowingly collect personal information from children and is not directed at children under 13. Adverts are limited to content rated for general audiences.

Changes

If the game's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the relevant app version is released.
